“This film will leave you rethinking what it means to be disabled, a parent, a son and wanting to know where and when you can see the amazing stage show documented in this fantastic film.”

– Quentin Kenihan, 891 ABC Radio Adelaide

SONS & mothers is an intimate portrait of a group of men who meet once a week as part of the Men’s Ensemble theatre troupe. They embark on a year-long creative process to create a theatrical love letter to their mothers and as they reveal themselves things get complicated and not everyone makes it to opening night.

“Putting in to words how you feel about some of your closest relationships is hard. Do that for a theatre show and you are really putting yourself out there. That is exactly what these seven men do. They are brave, they are honest and they are disabled.

Our biggest challenge as a society is to see past the disability and embrace people just as they are. This is what SONS & mothers does. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, but most of all it reminds us what it is to be human.”

This is the first time I have seen a group of disabled performers being treated as professional artists. Watching their stories come to life through such a fantastic, intelligent work process has been game changing. I loved this. Can I buy a copy?
